Sex Education in United States

In the United States, students are exposed to sex education at least once between grades seven and twelve while many schools begin as early as grades five or six. However, the degree of education varies as different states have different laws governing the curriculum in sex education classes. Some states also give parents the authority to forbid their children from attending these classes.

Abstinence

There are two main forms of sex education taught in the U.S., either comprehensive or abstinence-only. Comprehensive sex education covers everything about artificial and natural contraception including the dangers of unprotected sex. While abstinence-only sex education preaches that teenagers should remain chaste until marriage and leaving out contraceptive methods.
