Sex Education in Australia

Australia has no comprehensive sex education curriculum as schools are given full freedom to teach what they want and to what age levels they teach it to. Also, teachers are often torn between teaching the real issues about sex education and moral or religious values. They are so pressured by the government and society that what they teach are often not the whole truth about what they should really be teaching. So students do not get the whole picture and all the important facts on the topic.

Due to this, young Australians are exposed to sex early in their lives and are sometimes taught haphazardly. This also results in exposure to sexual activities and the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases early in their lives. Improper education has also brought about widespread acceptance of abortion and even prostitution.
