Contraceptive Injection

This comes in two types, either Depo-Provera lasting up to three months or Noristerat providing protection for up to two months. These injections also contain hormones that stop the woman’s ovaries from releasing an egg and other contraceptive effects like thickening of the secretions around the cervix and thinning the lining of the womb.

Convenient as this may be, there are known side-effects like bothersome periods where you have either heavy, prolonged, irregular, infrequent or absent periods. Some women also experience headaches, tummy aches, weakness or dizziness. Some women also experience gain weight. This may also cause bone loss, especially in smokers.
