Calendar Rhythm Method
The calendar rhythm method makes use of our knowledge of when a woman is likely to ovulate or by calculating a woman’s fertile period on the calendar. This method enables many women to calculate their fertile and infertile period based on her previous menstrual cycles. In using the calendar rhythm method, you must take into consideration that ovulation starts about 14 days before the next menstrual period plus or minus two days. That sperm can remain alive inside the woman’s uterus within 3 days and that the ovum or egg survives for 24 hours after ovulation. A woman with very regular cycles simply needs to count backwards from the first day of her menstruation period to know the day of ovulation, which is usually the 14th day after the first day of her period.
